Securent Named Finalist for Red Herring 100 Award
Securent Selected from 800 Companies as Finalist for Award Recognizing Most Promising North American Companies Driving the Future of Technology MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., April 11, 2007 – Securent, Inc., the award-winning leader in the Application Entitlement Management market, today announced that Red Herring magazine has named it as a finalist for the Red Herring 100 Award.
The Red Herring editorial board diligently surveyed the entrepreneurial scene throughout North America, and from a pool of more than 800 closely evaluated companies identified the top 200 finalists that are leading the next wave of innovation, including Securent. Now in its 10th year, the Red Herring 100 Awards are a selection of the top 100 private companies based in North America that play a leading role in innovation and technology.
“We can see the exciting evolution of the technology sector reflected in the quality and variety of exceptional companies that we had to choose from in putting our list together,” said Joel Dreyfuss, Editor-in-Chief of Red Herring. “It was tough to choose just 200 finalists from such a large list of excellent contenders, and we are very happy with the qualities of the companies we selected as Finalists.”
Securent enables organizations to secure sensitive applications and data with ease and precision. Securent’s Entitlement Management Solution (EMS) is the industry’s most robust standards-based solution, allowing organizations to create, enforce, review, and audit fine-grained access policies across heterogeneous application and IT environments distributed throughout the enterprise, all with centralized management and visibility. It leverages the Access Control Markup Language (XACML) standard from OASIS, the industry accepted standard for entitlement management.
Securent EMS provides a more scalable and cost-effective alternative to custom coding of fine-grained access controls into applications. It integrates out-of-the-box with enterprises’ application, identity management, and data repository infrastructure; and enables entitlements to be easily configured. Loosely coupling entitlements with application services, Securent EMS is also a key infrastructure service in an effective SOA deployment. Customers benefit from improved security and compliance with regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), Basel Capital Accord (Basel II), and the National Association of Securities Dealers Rule 2711 (NASD 2711).
“We are pleased to be named as a finalist for the Red Herring 100 award,” said Rajiv Gupta, CEO of Securent, Inc. “Since the founding of our company, we have focused on making the complex process of managing, enforcing, and auditing fine-grained access policies easier, quicker, and more centralized and cost effective for enterprises. It is rewarding to see continued validation of our efforts – from customers, partners, and industry authorities such as Red Herring.”
The winning 100 companies will be announced at the Red Herring Spring event May 1 – 3. The CEOs of the winners will present their innovative ideas and technologies to an audience of leading entrepreneurs, financiers and corporate strategists at the event in Monterey, Calif. This year’s Red Herring 100 Spring event marks the 10th anniversary of the Red Herring 100 Awards. In celebration, the event will feature keynote addresses from legendary VC investors and CEOs of leading Internet, information, and communications companies.
