Collaboration & Messaging

Enterprises increasingly rely on collaborative, multi-modal electronic communications between employees, customers, and partners in everyday business processes. With the heightened emphasis on security and compliance, however, enterprises are seeking standards-based, flexible, policy-driven, and easy-to-use solutions that can consistently and comprehensively manage, enforce, and audit access to the various communication and collaboration channels – instant messaging (IM), voice over IP (VoIP), email, whiteboards, text and video conferencing, etc. Furthermore, the solution needs to have enterprise-class scalability, availability, and performance to prevent disrupting or inhibiting critical business communications.

For example, your organization may need to adhere to regulatory policies that prevent one group of individuals from communicating with another group. While most enterprise messaging and collaboration products enable you to set access rules, these policies will only apply to individual communication silos. The policies set in email servers don’t apply to instant messaging servers, and vice versa. As a result, enterprises have resorted to manually configuring policies for each communication channel, which leads to higher administrative cost, inconsistent application of policies, and inadequate visibility.

Securent EMS provides an Entitlement Management solution that addresses these issues by externalizing authorization from the core messaging and collaboration infrastructure using agents that intercept traffic flowing through these channels. Policies can be centrally configured to allow or deny access based on the identity and presence attributes of the users, the channel of communication, the content of the message being communicated, and other environmental variables (e.g. time of day).

Securent supports the leading enterprise messaging and collaboration products, including:

  • Microsoft SharePoint New
  • IBM Lotus Notes Domino
  • IBM Lotus Sametime
  • Jabber
